Mochi Madness

I have discovered Mochi and now I'm addicted!!!!! So is my daughter. How did I not know about Mochi? Am I the only person on the planet who has not heard of these awesome little yummies??? Mochi it turns out is Japanese rice cakes made of rice pounded into paste and molded into the tiny little shapes of marshmallows. I discovered Mochi at Yogaberry when I treated my daughter to a frozen yogurt treat after a doctor appointment. I asked the young cashier what were those colorful little thingies in the section of toppings for the frozen yogurt and she said, "It's Mochi--kinda like a Japanese marshmallow." Sounded like yummy goodness to me. We have also become super addicted to Yogaberry--Organic, Fat-Free, Frozen yogurt. What's not to love? and because we have already made a few trips back to Yogaberry so we can get our Mochi fix, I now have an official Yogaberry card where once I earn 25 points, I get a freebie!!! 15 points and counting!!! My favorite is the Taro yogurt with mochi. I also wanna try honeydew and green tea frozen yogurt.......with Mochi, of course. My husband, who cannot stand yogurt, joined us on a Yogaberry trip and tried it for the first time. He LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Okay-okay, so it was frozen CHOCOLATE yogurt. But, it was yogurt nontheless and a step towards the real deal as far as I see it.

Rainy Day Bread

What is the best way to spend a rainy day afternoon? Baking bread, of course! My daughter and I passed the time away in the kitchen baking 10 grain bread. I really like Bob's Red Mill products. They are organic, quick, easy, and yummy! As the storm stomped it's thunderous feet outside, my daughter and I were happy to have our hands in dough. My husband loved coming home to the smell of fresh baked bread.

Mixing and kneading can be soooo theraputic!

Letting it rise----a true lesson in patience.

...and Viola! Fresh-baked bread right out of the oven. Warm and Yummy Goodness.

A Saucy Inspiration

It wasn't the first time I found myself in the store wondering what to make for dinner and trying to avoid the same old-same old. I was in the pasta aisle and came across this pasta sauce. I have learned that just about any product with the picture of a mother and/or the word "Mom" added to it is usually gonna be pretty good. It became the inspiration for a yummo pasta dinner. The sauce was delicioso! I will certainly buy it again!

Of course, the organic portobello mushrooms looked equally appealling

and what is a yummo pasta dinner without one of my top five favorite wines? I love this wine named after Francis Coppola's daughter, Sophia. It is a very light blush which runs in the $17-$20 range depending on where you buy it.
